Reflecting on Last Summer’s Sketches
June has arrived, but Berlin is still waking up. It’s the perfect time to look back at my sketchbooks from last summer. And – surprise! – I discovered all those fantastic drawings I hadn’t shared yet. Many of these stunning nudes never even made it to my Instagram stories. Sometimes, stepping away from your own work is the best way to see it clearly again.
Intense Focus – Capturing Nudes in the Sun
Sitting by the lake, soaking up the sun while sketching the nude men around me, I’m in deep concentration. One thing is for certain: my art is a constant battle against time. Whether it’s the fleeting summer days inching towards autumn or the brief moments of a pose that won’t last long, every sketch is a race. I need to capture it quickly because, before you know it, the pose has changed.
In the Flow – Drawing and Cooling Off
This constant race means that I often turn the page on a completed sketch, no matter how beautiful it is, and start the next one. When I’m in the flow, I keep going until the sun has me overheated, and I absolutely need a dip in the lake to cool off.
Summer 2023 – New Faces and Old Favorites
Here’s a fresh batch of memories from the summer of 2023 at one of my favorite outdoor studios: the nudist beach at Kaulsdorfer See in eastern Berlin. The men I sketch here are mostly gay, but there are also a few straight guys. Young dads, older naturist veterans, and many more. Enjoy my latest collection of men!
